Tammy Goldammer is a breeder and trainer of Hangin’ Tree Cowdogs. The purebred working breed is bred specifically to work cattle. It finds its genetic roots in the composite breeding of the Catahoula Leopard Dog, the Border Collie and the Australian Kelpie.
Tammy also runs a commercial cow/calf operation of Angus and Simmental cross cattle. She was born and raised on a cattle and horse ranch in the Nebraska Sandhills. Following a family move to Missouri, Tammy went on to obtain her degree in beef cattle nutrition, reproduction and economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Following college, she returned to Nebraska to work for the Universityof Nebraska at North Platte under Dr. Don Clanton who managed the beef cow-calf on range and the feedlot programs at the three Nebraska facilities. Upon the death of her father in 1996, she returned to Missouri and continued her dad’s farming and ranching operation.
Today, Tammy’s cowdogs are an integral part of day-to-day operations. Together, they check pastures, gather and move drys or pairs, sort cattle in traps or corrals, calve out cows, gather cows for synchronized breeding, weaning or to process cattle, or load cattle on ground level or pot trailers. They work as a team… work hard and play hard!
